The Fuego Max Down Vest from Cotopaxi is the warmer, puffier version of the brand's fan-favorite Fuego. It is built to keep your core toasty on windy summits and dog walks at dawn, and it is wind- and water-resistant for changeable weather. Wider baffles give the insulation extra room, and the fill is 800-fill responsibly sourced down.

The shell and lining are both 100% recycled nylon (37gsm), a light fabric that suits a vest meant to pack down small. The regular fit leaves space to wear a fleece or lightweight sweater underneath. If you plan to layer, size with that midlayer in mind.

Storage is well covered. There are two zippered hand pockets, a zippered chest pocket, and two interior dump pockets, so a phone, hand warmers, or an extra set of gloves all have a place. The vest packs into its own interior pocket, which makes it easy to slip into a bag, and a locker loop gives you a way to hang it up.
