About this find
The Helly Hansen Odin Backcountry Lightweight Hooded Insulator Jacket is a men's insulated layer made for backcountry skiing. Its face is durable 20-denier ripstop nylon with a water-resistant exterior. The fabric is 52% polyamide and 48% polyamide (recycled), and the lining is 90% polyamide with 10% elastane. OCTA air-mesh knitted synthetic insulation gives it a warm rating.
The hood is adjustable and has a flat brim, so you can change your coverage as conditions shift. A zip opening gives quick access to a beacon-specific pocket. There are also chest and hand pockets with YKK zippers for small essentials. Elastic cuffs and an elastic hem help hold the fit close to your body.
Articulated sleeves are shaped to support mobility when you reach and move through the day. The jacket is hip-length, with a 29.5 inch back length, and it weighs 14.08 ounces, which fits its lightweight insulation. It is PFC-free and a bluepass certified product, so it suits skiers who care about those details.
You can pair it with any shell jacket from the Helly Hansen Odin Backcountry collection for extra warmth when taking a break or dropping down the steeps. The shell is not included. Zip your beacon into its dedicated pocket before you head out so it stays in the same place every trip.
