Sahara Insulated Sleeping Pad

About this find

The Sahara Insulated Sleeping Pad from ALPS Mountaineering is an air pad made for backpacking. It is rectangular and measures 77 x 25 x 4 inches, so a one-person sleeper gets a full, flat surface with 4 inches of thickness. It weighs 1 lb. 11 oz. and packs down to 5.5 x 8 inches, which keeps it light on your back and small in your pack. A flat valve lets you inflate and deflate it with ease.

Cold ground can steal warmth fast, and this pad is built to push back. Layers of internal film reflect body heat to prevent radiant heat loss, and the synthetic insulation gives it an R-value of 8. That rating makes it a strong match for chilly nights outdoors.

The outer fabric is 20-denier ripstop nylon with a TPU coating, made from 100% recycled plastic. Ripstop weave is a smart pick for gear that spends time on rough ground. The included stuff sack does double duty as a large pump sack, so you can fill the pad with air without extra equipment. A repair kit is also included. Set your pad on a groundsheet or flat, clear patch of ground before you inflate it, since sharp sticks and rocks are the usual trouble for air pads.
