These Vertex Alpine Approach Shoes start with a woven Matryx polyester upper that is durable, lightweight, breathable and flexible. A knit collar seals out debris and joins the tongue for a secure, sock-like fit. The lace-up closure tucks into an integrated tongue pocket, so loose laces stay out of the way and are less likely to snag.

Underfoot, an EVA and polyolefin midsole blend has a higher abrasion component in the forefoot for scrambling, and TPU shanks add underfoot protection and stiffness. Toe caps add protection at the front of the shoe. The Vibram XS Flash 2 outsole has ergonomically patterned 4 mm lugs, and the tread is designed to provide grip while edging on trail.

These shoes are made for hiking and weigh 1 lb. 7.7 oz. as a pair. Try them with lightweight hiking pants and a simple base layer for a day on the trail. For a relaxed look around town, pair them with straight-leg jeans and a plain tee.
